One Million Black Women is amplifying the voices of Black women in the United States as they advocate for policy changes that will help advance economic opportunity. Systemic challenges require sustained investment from the private sector and policy makers need to hear from Black women on the issues and policies affecting them.
View the results below from our third national survey where we heard from 1,200 U.S. adults, including 600 Black women, to help guide our work. We are sharing our findings to catalyze the development of policy solutions to help narrow opportunity gaps.
The majority of Black women value entrepreneurship as a pathway to wealth creation - and with more support, would start a business to help drive economic opportunity for their employees, families and communities.
Despite making economic and educational progress, Black women still face systemic barriers to building generational wealth. Many are simultaneously working to secure their own financial futures while supporting others around them.
Black women experience steeper economic obstacles when compared to other adults in the United States. As a part of our One Million Black Women commitment to help narrow opportunity gaps in the lives of at least one million Black women by 2023, we conducted a national survey to investigate the economic mobility journey of Black women.
